Gorgeous orange & purple

Orange and purple is a brilliant combination!  I picked it for my first One Nail Different manicure.  The gorgeous purple is Boots No7 Vivid Violet. The gorgeous Nails Inc. orange was free with InStyle mag some time ago.  They do that every few months in the UK.

My quirky look today!

I normally wish to blog my outfits but forget to ask someone to take pics.  Luckily, today I was with a friend for the Gerhard Richter exhibition and coffee, and she kindly agreed to snap me.  Cap: Kangol.  Scarf: Tie Rack.  Coat: Uniqlo.  Kurta: Tooting Broadway.  Hot pink jeans: Mathew Williamson for H&M. Boots: Geox.  All sustainably previous seasons. Good!

Gorgeous silver Nails Inc Magnetic mani

This Magnetic mani by Nails Inc is my fourth.  (Yes, it's that good!) This time I chose Trafalgar Square, which is a metallic chrome shade.  I've never had silver nails before & I'm loving the two-tone effect.  People complimented me & I feel they're right!  Thanks to the wonderful Emma of Nails Inc in John Lewis, Oxford St, London, UK.  That lovely nail bar did my last 3 mini manis & I want to go back soon soon.

Gorgeous teal Nails Inc Magnetic mani

I love six colours: hot pink, fuchsia, purple, orange, yellow, & teal.  So for my third Nails Inc. London Magnetic Manicure, I went for my sixth favourite colour, teal. It's a metallic teal shade called Whitehall.  Soon I'll be getting Nails Inc's brand new Kensington Palace raspberry Magnetic varnish.

Public Talk | Mindfulness Retreats

True Peace and Happiness in the Here and Now by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh

I've read three of "Thay's" books: Peace is Every Breath, Peace is Every Step, and No Death, No Fear.  They're all wonderful books full of beautiful words, profound concepts and great wisdom.  I'm learning to inculcate his contemplations in my daily practice to live more gratefully.  In the moment.  With increasing peace and happiness, we can live blissfully and mindfully despite the pressures of life today.  I definitely want to attend Thich Nhat Hanh's talk, live in London next March. You might wish to do the same.

The tent of heavenly bliss!

I credit having this great experience of seeing, hearing, "feeling" 3 lovely singers chant Shree Hanuman Chaleesa in this gorgeous tent at the Mind Body Spirit London Festival 2011 on Sunday with the heavenly bliss I felt that evening & all through Monday. Lost it somewhat today (through over-activity) which indicates a gap between mind, body & spirit that needs to be closed. Too much doing, not enough being!

Beautiful multi-tonal nail polish!

The Models Own Beetle Juice nail polish range comprises five multi-tonal shades. My fave is the warmest combination, Pinky Brown.  Every bottle has one gleaming shade made up of four pearlescent colours. The range was inspired by the gorgeous wings of a beetle, echoing its colour-shifting phenomenon, for a glistening duo chrome finish.

Sensational Models Own Beetle Juice Pinky Brown np!

Yay, my Models Own Pinky Brown Beetle Juice nail polish arrived today! Unfortunately, I only checked my mail late in the day, so it was dark by the time I varnished my nails. I'll take pics in daylight tomorrow. Nevertheless, I'm excited so I'm sharing a pic now!

5 colour aquarelle nails

I'm loving sponge painting! This beautiful nail art style was inspired by the Very Emily blog (http://www.emilydenisephotography.com/blog/?p=1727) She's brilliant! You may wish to try this technique! First, put a clear base coat on. Next, give your nails one coat of white with the brush. Then randomly paint different colours onto small areas of a make up sponge, which you then apply to the nails. You are an artist and your nails are the media.

I used:
-China Glaze First & Last (for base coat)
-China Glaze White on White 70255
-Essie Pink Parka
-OPI The "It" Color (yellow)
-Illamasqua (orange)
-Boots No7 Stay Perfect Vivid Violet 40
-Seche Vite dry fast top coat

3 pink sponge arty nails!

I love colour on my nails and last Friday I wore my fave. Pink. In 3 shades.  You may wish to create something similar. Start with a clear base coat, always. Then brush paint your first colour on the whole nail. I used a soft pink by Nails Inc. London called Warwick Ave. You needn't use the exact same, you may use your equivalent(s). For my next two coats I dabbed the paint on with a make up sponge. First, a neon pink Essie about two thirds up the nail, then Boots No7 Pink Grapefruit 80 for the third of the nail (near the tip). Pink is gorgeous. Vibrant. Punk. Spiritual. That's why it rocks...I mean...trances!

Floral scarf & arty nails

Flower print scarf by Accessorize (SS11). And abstracts nails painted with a sponge. I first put a clear base coat using China Glaze, First & Last. Then brushed one coat of OPI 3 free (no Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP) yellow polish, followed by an OPI 3 free fuchsia dabbed on with a makeup sponge. Lastly, I added a top coat for a glossy finish. And there you have co-ordinated arty abstract nails!

Steve Jobs

I'm glad I did something on the subject of Steve Jobs and Apple in my lifetime.  I designed this back in college at Zimbabwe Institute of Vigital Arts in 2000 or 2001, for a brief on Semantics. I'll keep being inspired by him and he'll live on in his family, friends, designers, inventors, contacts, fans and many more.

My nail design

I came up with this abstract design myself today. Painted 2 coats of Boots No7 Vivid Violet 68. Then layered dots in No7 Lucky Lilac 50 and China Glaze White on White 3 free nail polish. Free of Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP.

The nail canvas

To make this abstract design first put on a clear base coat.  Next apply colour.  I used two coats of Boots No7 Vivid Violet 68.  Then I placed drops of No7 Lucky Lilac 50 & China Glaze White on White 3 free nail polish & mixed them with cocktail sticks.  Finish off with a top coat.  Your nails are your canvas.
