5 colour aquarelle nails

I'm loving sponge painting! This beautiful nail art style was inspired by the Very Emily blog (http://www.emilydenisephotography.com/blog/?p=1727) She's brilliant! You may wish to try this technique! First, put a clear base coat on. Next, give your nails one coat of white with the brush. Then randomly paint different colours onto small areas of a make up sponge, which you then apply to the nails. You are an artist and your nails are the media.

I used:
-China Glaze First & Last (for base coat)
-China Glaze White on White 70255
-Essie Pink Parka
-OPI The "It" Color (yellow)
-Illamasqua (orange)
-Boots No7 Stay Perfect Vivid Violet 40
-Seche Vite dry fast top coat

3 pink sponge arty nails!

I love colour on my nails and last Friday I wore my fave. Pink. In 3 shades.  You may wish to create something similar. Start with a clear base coat, always. Then brush paint your first colour on the whole nail. I used a soft pink by Nails Inc. London called Warwick Ave. You needn't use the exact same, you may use your equivalent(s). For my next two coats I dabbed the paint on with a make up sponge. First, a neon pink Essie about two thirds up the nail, then Boots No7 Pink Grapefruit 80 for the third of the nail (near the tip). Pink is gorgeous. Vibrant. Punk. Spiritual. That's why it rocks...I mean...trances!

Floral scarf & arty nails

Flower print scarf by Accessorize (SS11). And abstracts nails painted with a sponge. I first put a clear base coat using China Glaze, First & Last. Then brushed one coat of OPI 3 free (no Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP) yellow polish, followed by an OPI 3 free fuchsia dabbed on with a makeup sponge. Lastly, I added a top coat for a glossy finish. And there you have co-ordinated arty abstract nails!

Steve Jobs

I'm glad I did something on the subject of Steve Jobs and Apple in my lifetime.  I designed this back in college at Zimbabwe Institute of Vigital Arts in 2000 or 2001, for a brief on Semantics. I'll keep being inspired by him and he'll live on in his family, friends, designers, inventors, contacts, fans and many more.

My nail design

I came up with this abstract design myself today. Painted 2 coats of Boots No7 Vivid Violet 68. Then layered dots in No7 Lucky Lilac 50 and China Glaze White on White 3 free nail polish. Free of Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP.

The nail canvas

To make this abstract design first put on a clear base coat.  Next apply colour.  I used two coats of Boots No7 Vivid Violet 68.  Then I placed drops of No7 Lucky Lilac 50 & China Glaze White on White 3 free nail polish & mixed them with cocktail sticks.  Finish off with a top coat.  Your nails are your canvas.
